Statistics show that crime has decreased, but there are also concerns that crime is not being reported. The SAPS started their festive season operation and will be doing operations alongside the railway as we believe that a lot of the burglaries are coming from the railway side. ST3 Security reported that crime alongside the railway has increased.
Reporting crime will only be to our benefit as the SAPS deploy their staff according to their crime statistics, currently the Blackheath area is rated as a low crime risk area.
The SAPS visibility has increased slightly and we believe that we will be seeing much more visible policing on the approach to the Christmas Shutdown Period.
Action Steps! Problems with regards to over grown trees alongside the railways and on properties will be addressed.
The traffic department is still doing regular checks in the area and we have tasked them do to constant VCP’s in Blackheath Industrial.
